How to clean dishwasher: Dishwashers are awesome and quite possibly the most overlooked appliance in the entire kitchen when it comes to cleaning. Let’s face it, most people take a clean dishwasher for granted probably because it’s a cleaning appliance, right? No one thinks about the dishwasher. If there is a spill in fridge you will be quick to wipe it, you also set your oven to self clean. Some of the things of concern with a dishwasher include a funky smell and cloudy glass. This is a common problem and is most likely caused by a build-up inside the dishwasher. Some dishwashers feature stainless steel on the inside and most have plastic on the inside. Plastic is porous so it absorbs dirt, mildew and odors. This article will take you through some quick and easy steps to a clean dishwasher.

Step by step procedure:

1. Check the dishwasher
The first step to a clean dishwasher is to open it and check if there are chunks of anything like bones, chunks of crab shells or pieces of cutlery or crockery. Just make sure that the drain is clear and that there is nothing clogging it.

2. Cleaning the filter
The second step to a clean dishwasher is to clean the filter at the bottom of the dishwasher. Simply unscrew the waster filter and remove it and the filter tray as well. Wash the filter and the filter tray in warm water or soak the two of them in warm soapy water for about ten minutes. Don’t use an abrasive scrub brush. These items are delicate and you don’t want to ruin the filter. Replace the filter.

3. Deodorize the dishwasher
The next step to a clean dishwasher is to deodorize it. Take some white vinegar and fill a cup. Pour it at the bottom of the empty dishwasher. Next, select the deep cleaning cycle on the dishwasher. Let it run for ten minutes. The vinegar will break down any build-up and deodorize the inside of the machine. For even more deodorizing power, take some baking soda and pour a cup at the bottom of the dishwasher. Leave it overnight and it will completely deodorize the dishwasher and then run an empty cycle in the morning. You will be amazed at how fresh and clean the dishwasher smells.

Tips and Advice (How to clean dishwasher):

• If you have a problem with mold and mildew, you may want to use half a cup to a cup of bleach in the second cycle. But, don’t use bleach if your dishwasher is made of stainless steel on the inside.
• If you have a garbage disposal, run your garbage disposal before you start your dishwasher because it runs into the same line and so if its clogged it’s going to clog the dishwasher as well and leave standing water at the bottom.
• Don’t pack your dishes too tightly in the dishwasher because that doesn’t allow the water to circulate.
